DR. MARK BREINER: TMD, it means temporomandibular joint dysfunction. And that's the joint in front of your ears. And a lot of times the relationship of your lower jaw to your upper jaw is going to cause problems there; or your bite, essentially. And that's one of the things we screen for in the initial exam, because if you have a problem with the temporomandibular joint, you can affect your entire system. It literally has an effect on your entire autonomic nervous system. It can cause scoliosis, can cause irregular heartbeats, it can cause cold fingers and toes, just a whole host of symptoms.
And we can check energetically if there is a problem there, and we can make an appliance to correct that abnormal bite, and to see indeed just how many problems it's causing. And sometimes it's just a matter of reshaping the teeth slightly, and sometimes it's a matter of the person'll end up having to go through orthodontics.
